Sackets Harbor Visit With Rotary GSE Team Japan
Here are a few pictures we took in sackets Harbor on Saturday, October 10th, 2009.
This next picture is looking out at the marina from the gazebo.
Amazingly, the weather was absolutely perfect in Sackets Harbor, even though it was overcast and raining when we left Baldwinsville. The drive is about an hour and five minutes – I think Google said it was 73 miles. My neighbors, Katie and Amanda Porter accompanied us.
We had lunch at Tin Pan Galley – everyone’s favorite restaurant in Sackets. It was cold enough that we had to have lunch inside. I missed the ambiance of the Italian style garden dining area where we always eat in the summer. Also, many of the shops were already closed for the winter. Sackets is at the eastern end of Lake Ontario and is one of those places that gets really clobbered with tons of snow all winter. I often think that I would like to have a collection of winter scenes that I’ve taken in Sackets but I’m always afraid to drive there in the wintertime because of the almost constant lake effect snows and the frequency that Rt 81 gets closed down.
Our Japanese guests worked hard in the back seat all the way home, making us beautiful origami flowers and butterflies. What a delightful day!
